About the game

TEB RUN is a free sunset-coast arcade racer that runs in a browser tab. No install, no account. Plug in a gamepad, use the keyboard or play with touch on your phone, and you're driving.

The road is classic sprite-scaling pseudo-3D, with sweeping curves and rolling hills. At the end of each stage it widens and physically splits into two carriageways. Choose your side and you've chosen your next stage. Fifteen stages, five levels, five endings. Each run is a route, and every route is a little different.

Beat the checkpoint timer, and your leftover time carries forward. Shift between Lo and Hi gears. Drift through the bends. Thread through traffic, and try not to spin out. Rain, snow and changing road surfaces keep your hands busy. Finish well and sign the high-score table with three letters, just like the old days.

Before each race you tune a car radio. Three original tracks are waiting: "Mirrorball Mile" (disco), "Amber Lagoon" (chill-out) and "Tunnel Nine" (techno). Then choose from four invented cars, from a mint-and-cream 1950s cruiser to a candy-red super speedster.

Built solo with TypeScript and Canvas 2D. No engine. About 240 KB of JavaScript.

About the developer

Teb is a solo developer who never quite stopped leaning into the corners after the arcades went quiet. TEB RUN was built with Claude Code in TypeScript and Canvas 2D, without an engine, with every note of music synthesized in code. The goal was simple: bring back that golden-hour arcade feeling, just one browser tab away.

Quotes

Every stage ends at a fork, and the road really splits. You don't pick from a menu. You pick with the steering wheel.

I wanted the whole arcade cabinet in about 240 KB: the road, the radio, the sunset, and the three letters at the end.

Tune the radio, pick a car, drive toward the sunset. That's the whole pitch, and I think it's enough.

Soundtrack

Three original songs on the car radio, composed and synthesized in code:

  1. 01Mirrorball MileDisco
  2. 02Amber LagoonChill-out
  3. 03Tunnel NineTechno
